Clooney to sell Lake Como property
Omega ambassador and Hollywood actor George Clooney has put his lakeside Italian villa up for sale.
The decision to sell the Lake Como property, which may go to David and Victoria Beckham, is set to disappoint scores of fans in Italy.
Reports have claimed that the Beckhams will be competing for Villa Oleandra – which sits on the banks of the lake a short trip from Milan – with a Russian vodka magnate.
Clooney bought the property, said to be worth $30 million (£26 million), in 2001. Past owners have included the Heinz family.
Michael Day told The Independent: “The opulent building . is probably the most sought-after pad in all of celebrity-obsessed Italy, especially now that it has been the home of Hollywood royalty.”
However, celebrity-loving locals will be able to soften the blow of losing Clooney by model-spotting in Milan as the fashion week draws to a close.
